North Dakota’s commercial airports continue to see increased airline passenger boardings.
The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission reports 83,429 boardings in November. While that’s down 12.5 percent from November, 2019 – pre-pandemic – they’re up 95 percent over November, 2020.
"A lot of forecasters, if you go back a year,when asked how long it was going to take to recover, a lot of them were looking at 2023," said Aeronautics Commission executive director Kyle Wanner. "At this rate, we may actually recover fully in North Dakota by the end of 2022."
Wanner said a lot of different things have to go the right way to make it happen.
"But we're definitely trending in the right direction," Wanner said.
Wanner said Jamestown and Devils Lake airports are now back to pre-pandemic levels. And he said Fargo’s Hector Airport has its best November on record.
