Rep. Rick Becker (R-Bismarck) is running for the Republican nomination for US Senate.
Becker would be challenging incumbent John Hoeven for the nod.
Hoeven was first elected to the Senate in 2010, after serving as North Dakota's Governor since 2000.
Becker has served in the state Legislature since 2013. He is the founder of the "Bastiat Caucus."
Becker first announced in the Washington Examiner newspaper, and later in a video. In that video, Becker said he is a "true conservative."
"While many claim to be conservative, my actions have always backed up my words," Becker said. "Numerous rankings have consistently placed me in the 90 to 100 percent range for conservative and pro-liberty votes."
Becker also said he recently received a perfect score from the American Conservative Union.
Becker points to bills concerning Second Amendment rights, civil asset forfeiture reform, confidential informant reform, and the prohibition of vaccine passports in North Dakota.
