Free Film Showing of "Prussia" a ND Story ~ Reaction to "Elbowoods" Film ~ An Outdoor Classroom

Tuesday, May 28, 2019 – "Prussia" is a documentary about Mariah Prussia, the owner of MPX Fitness, as she enters the world of professional mixed martial arts while balancing her life as a business owner, mom and adjunct professor. The film also addresses the long-term emotional complexities that come with being a victim of domestic violence. A free screening of the film will take place on Wednesday in Fargo. Here to discuss the project is executive producer Jim Manney and co-producer/writer, Cody Rogness. ~~~ When the pharmaceutical company Bayer bought Monsanto last year, it inherited the weed killer Roundup. It also inherited thousands of lawsuits claiming the chemical’s active ingredient — glyphosate — can be linked to a form of cancer. But farmers have used more and more glyphosate over the last 20 years to keep weeds in check, and have a lot riding on its future. For Harvest Public Media and the Midwest Center for Investigative Reporting, Christopher Walljasper explains what’s at stake. ~~~ A public event was held on May 20th at Four Bears Casino for the premier of Prairie Public’s new documentary “Basketball, Water and the Lost City of Elbowoods.” After the film, producer Matt Olien spoke with Mark Fox, chairman of the Three Affiliated Tribes; Fatima Hood, whose son appears in the film; and Donna Taken Alive, the daughter of one of the players of the 1942 basketball team that is featured in the film. ~~~ In an excerpt from the Cutting Ed podcast, we learn about an outdoor classroom for students at Central Middle School in Devils Lake.
