Wednesday, June 26, 2019 – Kari Barchenger is a North Dakota artist who has published two books – photos of the plants of the Peace Garden. Her father, Art Norby, is a writer, painter and sculptor who is installing one of his sculptures at the Peace garden this summer. He is also known for his sculpture at the Minnesota Korean War Memorial. They talk with our Bill Thomas about their art and their careers. ~~~ Chuck Lura shares a Natural North Dakota essay titled: “ Plants and Animals of Our Youth.” ~~~ Sara Medalen was a finalist for 2019 North Dakota Teacher of the Year. She works at Sunnyside Elementary in Minot, where she strives to meet her students where they're at, intellectually and even physically. She visits with Tom Gerhardt of The Cutting Ed podcast about the ways she encourages her students, and how they in turn empower other young learners.
