Early Saturday morning, the gavel fell on the 2013 Legislative session.
The last day turned very tense -- as the House reconsidered and then defeated a bill that would dramatically increase state funding for local schools. Gov. Dalrymple had touted it as the vehicle for property tax relief. IT had a $750 million price tag.
When the House re-voted, it lost on a tie 46-46 vote. Later that day, the contents of the bill -- HB 1319 -- where amended on to the budget for the Department of Public Instruction. And that bill passed both chambers.
The session went 80 days. That's a modern record for the length of a Legislative session.
