The Public Service Commission has rescheduled a hearing for a proposed 150 megawatt wind farm to be built in southern Stark County.
The Brady Wind Energy Center would use up to 87 turbines. It would be close to Lefor. The PSC had scheduled a hearing March 2nd. But a group called “Concerned Citizens of Stark County” has intervened in the matter – and it asked the PSC for extra time to prepare for the hearing.
Commissioner Brian Kalk says since the original hearing date was announced, the developer has filed a number of new documents with the PSC – and he says that bolsters the case for a continuance.
"I certainly read through all the different viewpoints, and I understand Brady Wind feels this delay could cause significant harm to the operation, and cost money," Kalk said. "I get that. But I believe due process should follow the full course,."
Kalk says the best thing for the Commission to do is to grant the continuance.
"This will allow the group additional time to prepare their case," said Kalk. "Quite honestly, with the paperwork that has come in, it'll give me more time to go through it."
The new hearing date is March 30th. And it will be held in the Dickinson City Hall.
The Concerned Citizens of Stark County group had also objected to a proposed Dickinson Wind Energy Center, to be built near Taylor. That project was withdrawn.
