Monday, March 18, 2019 – Who Killed Lt. Van Dorn? That question is the title of a film chosen for this week’s Fargo Film Festival. Zach Stauffer is the reporter, producer, and cinematographer. He joins us to share a story about Lt. Wes Van Dorn, who died in a helicopter crash off the coast of Virginia and the subsequent investigation that uncovered a long history of negligence and institutional failings around that model of helicopter. ~~~ Another film at the festival is titled “Riplist.” It’s a light-hearted documentary about a local deadpool, including members of the Prairie Public staff. ~~~ An increasing number of farmers filed for bankruptcy in many states in 2018, raising alarm over the apparent downturn in the farm economy. But economists say if you go by the all of the numbers, the ag sector at large is getting by. Harvest Public Media’s Grant Gerlock has more in part one of a two-part report. ~~~ In an excerpt from the Cutting Ed podcast, host Tom Gerhardt visits with Williston High School’s director of bands, Eric Rooke. Eric recently received a special honor.
