The college advertised itself as "North Dakota's Institute of Technology, designated for the training of Vocational Teachers under the Smith-Hughes Act, offering thirteen Baccalaureate curricula."
  • 12/19/2009: The appointment of James H. Burdick as U. S. Marshal of Dakota Territory was confirmed by the Senate on this date in 1872.
  • 12/22/2009: On this date in 1910, Judge Amidon of Fargo ruled in the case of the state of Minnesota vs. Sullivan, a case in which Sullivan was charged with bringing alcohol into Traverse County, Minnesota,. The county, as well as most of the state, was a declared a "dry zone" by the Treaty of 1851, made between the U. S. Government and the Sioux tribes of Minnesota.
  • 12/23/2009: The Carrington Hospital Association was chartered on this date in 1915 in Carrington, North Dakota. Although the city of Carrington had been growing since the arrival of the Northern Pacific railroad in 1882, no medical facilities existed, and those needing a doctor were forced to travel nearly fifty miles to Jamestown.
  • 12/24/2009: Those residents of Fargo on the Winnipeg Free Press mailing list delighted in receiving their annual Christmas souvenirs on this date in 1909. The unusual and unique Christmas souvenirs from the newspaper had become an annual event in the area, and were eagerly looked forward to by many members of the community.
  • 12/25/2009: What will Christmas be like one hundred year from now? An unknown author pondered this question one hundred years ago in an article carried in newspapers across North Dakota. He predicted that on Christmas of 2009, men will travel through the air as commonly as they travel on land, and a vast subterranean network will carry traffic rapidly from one location to another in tunnels or pneumatic tubes.
