Economic Development ~ Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me ~ ND Crime and Homicide Report

Monday, June 25 – James Leiman is the new senior manager of Economic Development Initiatives at the Commerce Department. As such, he has a lot on his plate. We’ll learn about various economic development efforts, intermodal transportation, and workforce challenges. We’ll also discuss the online trend in retail and what that might mean for the state. ~~~~ One of Prairie Public’s very own sustaining members made it onto Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me. We visit with Ryan Quinn. ~~~ The state office of the North Dakota Attorney General has released the Crime and Homicide Report for 2017. Joining us to discuss the statistics and trends is Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem. ~~~ Small, rural towns have been shrinking for decades. While some seem resigned to decline, others hang their hopes on dramatic turnarounds that rarely come. But there are researchers in Iowa who have embraced another way … one hatched in Eastern Europe that may help towns get better even as they shed population.
