Farm Bill Talks After Easter?

By T.McDonald

Bismarck, ND – Senator Byron Dorgan is hoping lawmakers can get a farm bill in place with-in the first weeks after returning from Easter recess. Dorgan says the process is becoming very frustrating. He says the bill should have been issued long ago, but there are those that are dragging their feet?
"It's just a case of some people who really don't want to have a farm bill, and don't believe there is an urgency in having a new farm bill, and they're not cooperating."
Dorgan says there are still contentious points, such as limits on payments, and increasing loan rates, that still need to be worked out. He says those could be resolved quickly if some of the conference committee members would realize the serious need to get the bill to the President.
