Lech Walesa speaks in Fargo
Fargo, ND – Lech Walesa--the former President of Poland and a Nobel Peace Prize winner for his leadership in the fight against Communism--spoke in Fargo Thursday.
Walesa became the first democratically elected President in Poland in 1990. He says the first stages of reform are very hard.
Walesa says his greatest accomplishments are yet to come. He would like to see a new economic and political system for a globalized world. He says a global parliament then could deal with the problems of the world--like the conflict between Israel and Palestine, racism, and ethnic cleansing.
Walesa is now the head of the Lech Walesa Institute whose aim is to advance the ideals of democracy and free market reform throughout Eastern Europe and the rest of the world.
