Bismarck, ND – North Dakota's House and Senate Republican leaders say they want to start preparations for the 2008 elections now.
Republicans took a drubbing in some legislative races in this month's election. And the leaders say they've already started planning how to turn things around in two years.
"Obviously, I think we want to look at what we did in the last election cycle that worked, what didn't, and what we can do better," said Senate Majority Leader Bob Stenehjem (R-Bismarck). "We need to get our group of people -- the ones that won and the ones that didn't -- and talk to them."
Stenehjem says he was disappointed in the Republican turnout.
"The problem we saw is that Republicans stayed home," Stenehjem said.
Democrats gained 13 seats -- 6 in the Senate, 7 in the House.
