A traveling exhibit that honors North Dakotans killed in the Global War on Terror is on display at the Bismarck Scheels store.
The display was prepared by the American Legion.
North Dakota National Guard Adjutant General David Sprynczynatyk says the traveling exhibit is a fitting remembrance for the 21 North Dakotans who have died on active duty since 9-11.
"This is a display that features Americans who were tragically killed in the prime of their lives," Sprynczynatyk told the crowd attending the exhibit's opening. "It reminds us that this is a dangerous world with many threats to our security. These warriors represent the best of America, and each has a story to tell."
"These are our friends," said US Senator Heidi Heitkamp, who also spoke. "These are our neighbors, these are our children. We go to funerals (of the fallen soldiers), and we see family members, and we make one promise: We will never forget."
The exhibit will be on display for the next two weeks.
