North Dakota is in the top ten states for the cheapest car insurance in the country.
A survey conducted by WalletHub, a personal finance website, ranked North Dakota 9th on a list of 47 states. Analyst Jill Gonzales says over 2,800 quotes were collected from 20 different auto insurance companies.
"We looked across different companies and compared different driver profiles. We looked at car insurance for both men and women, at marital status, a couple different ages as well, the miles driven. We looked to see what was the absolute cheapest. In North Dakota, American Standard ranked #1, Nodak Insurance Company #2 and USAA was #3."
Gonzales says the most expensive car insurance rates were New York, Florida and New Jersey. She says many times, states with higher costs of living tend to have higher rates. States that ranked higher than North Dakota were Iowa, Vermont, Nebraska, Wyoming, South Dakota, New Hampshire and West Virginia.
