The state of North Dakota has activated what’s being called the state’s Workforce Coordination Center.
"It's there to serve emergency workforce needs, in support of the Coronavirus fight," Gov. Doug Burgum said at a COVID-19 briefing. "It's lifeline services for industries and agencies."
Burgum told reporters this will cover people who would be willing to help in a number of sectors, and in a number of jobs -- from public health workers, to law enforcement, child care, food and agriculture.
Some of the positions are volunteer, others are paid.
"This location will pool all applicants, and then match up the needs of the businesses or agencies that need their help," Burgum said.

Hand Sanitizers

Burgum also said some North Dakota distillers are working on making hand sanitizers.
Those products are alcohol-based.
Store shelves have been devoid of hand sanitizers. And Burgum said although national manufacturers are working on meeting the demand, the state will not be waiting for that.
However...
"There's no bottling facility in North Dakota for hand sanitizers," Burgum said. "So, if people have hand pumps, squirt nozzles, bottles you have at home, save your plastic bottles, because we may have a way to have you be able to refill those."
Burgum said that refill protocol is still being developed.
