State health department confirms 2 more deaths, 17 new cases of novel coronavirus

Two more individuals have passed away with COVID-19 in North Dakota, bringing the statewide coronavirus pandemic death toll to 56.

The patients were both women from Cass County with underlying health conditions. One was in her 90s, the other was in her 70s.

Additionally, 17 new cases of the novel coronavirus have been confirmed by the state health department. The cases were from a pool of 1,048 tests, for a daily positive rate of 1.6 percent.

16 of the new cases were from Cass County. Grand Forks County had one new case.

There have been 2,439 total positive cases overall.

86,527 tests have been administered. 67,340 of those tests were on unique individuals.

The state lab is retesting 82 false positive results that occurred during a recent equipment malfunction. So far 74 of those tests have been completed and only one tested positive. One other individual declined a re-test, and is self-isolating at home.

To date, there have been 161 total hospitalizations for patients with COVID-19. 40 individuals are currently hospitalized.

There have been 1,762 recoveries. This leaves 621 total active confirmed cases.
