A Bismarck Republican legislator has announced he will not be running for re-election.

Rep. Rick Becker has served in the House of Representatives for 10 years. He is the founder of the Bastiat Caucus, which he described a the "true conservatives," who adhere to the GOP party's platform.

Becker made that announcement Wednesday night on his television show, "No Apologies with Becker," aired on the BEK network.

"I feel good about what I have accomplished," Becker said. "I feel better about what my colleagues, we conservatives, have come together and accomplished for the people of the state of North Dakota."

Becker said there is more work to be done.

"But it is going to be left up to others to carry on that work," Becker said.

Becker would have faced a challenge for his seat. He did say he plans to stay active in politics.

Becker is a plastic surgeon in Bismarck.
