The film Young Lakota tells the story of two sisters on the Pine Ridge Reservation faced with life defining choices after Cecelia Fire Thunder, the first female president of their tribe, threatens to defy a South Dakota law criminalizing abortion. The film screens this weekend at NDSU. Here to tell us more about the story and the making of the film are Rose Rosenblatt, one of the directors, and Native field producer Chas Jewett. ~~~ An excerpt from this week’s Prairie Pulse television show features the art of spinning yarn with Aliza Novacek. ~~~ A new report finds that the economic recovery has left poor areas and core cities behind, but as we might expect, there are exceptions in North Dakota. In yesterday’s All Things Considered, NPR's Robert Siegel talked to John Lettieri, co-founder of the Economic Innovation Group. ~~~ News director Dave Thompson stops by to discuss the latest headlines. ~~~ Harvest Public Media’s Luke Runyon dives into a particularly heated GMO debate and explains what the argument is all about.
