Poetry Out Loud ~ Plains Folk Essay ~ Ethanol Production and Electric Vehicles ~ Frank's Extra Mile

Wednesday, February 27, 2019 – Bill Thomas joins us with some winning poetry from this year’s Poetry Out Loud event in Bismarck. ~~~ Tom Isern has this week’s Plains Folk essay, “Learning from the Lindis. ~~~ Each year, about 40 percent of the corn grown in the United States gets turned into ethanol for gasoline. But the demand to reduce fossil fuel emissions has drivers turning to electric cars. Harvest Public Media’s Amy Mayer looks at how that may impact the Corn Belt.~~~ “Frank’s Extra Mile” is the title of a new book honoring North Dakota banker Frank Larson. Joining us to discuss the book are collaborators Patrick McCloskey, the writer; and Jerry Anderson, photographer and book designer.
