Dem-NPL convention chooses new national DNC committeeman, committeewoman

North Dakota Democrats will have two new faces on the Democratic National Committee.

Renee Pfenning says she is stepping down after four terms as North Dakota’s National Committeewoman. Fenning is one of the “super-delegates” to the Democratic National Convention. She says she will go as an uncommitted delegate – but she told the state Democratic Convention she believes that either Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders will be elected President.

"Regardless of who wins the nomination, it is imperative we unite behind them," Pfenning told the delegates. "The stakes are too high to risk a Republican Presidency and return to the same failed policies that drove this country in the ditch years ago."

National Committeeman Chad Nodland also said he would not seek another term. He told the state convention delegates he enjoyed his time on the DNC – but he did have some issues.

"Like a lot of people, I've been frustrated with some of the things the DNC has done," Nodland said. "That would include some of the limits we've seen early on, on debates."

DNC National Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz was criticized for what some Democrats perceived as too few debates.

Both Pfenning and Nodland will serve until after the national convention.

Democrats chose Dina Baird and Joshua Boschee as their replacements.
