“Basketball, Water and the Lost City of Elbowoods” ~ Sue Balcom on Shrubs and Vinegar

Thursday, May 16, 2019 – “Basketball, Water and the Lost City of Elbowoods” is a new documentary from Prairie Public debuting this Sunday on radio at 5pm Central, and Monday on TV at 8. The 1942 Elbowoods High School basketball team made it to the North Dakota State Class B championship game, but they lost in a bizarre twist that resulted in a 60-year effort to right a wrong. The documentary relives the excitement of that basketball team and the title game controversy, leading up to the fate of the team’s hometown — which was sacrificed for the Garrison Dam. ~~~ 10 states have now legalized recreational cannabis, giving way to a thriving industry, even though the federal government still outlaws marijuana. In the final part of our pesticide series, Harvest Public Media’s Esther Honig reports that with no federal rules, states are left to come up with their own pesticide regulations for cannabis. ~~~ Sue Balcom is here for another episode of Main Street Eats. Today’s topics are shrubs and vinegar. ~~~ Doug and Ashley have our What’s Happening calendar of events.
