Weak Men

11/11/2007:

Newspaper advertising has a long history in the North Dakota Red River Valley.

For example, the Monday Morning edition of the Daily Argus on this date in 1889 carried an ad aimed at Weak Men.

A Professor F. C. Fowler from Moodis, Connecticut offered a cure for men who were suffering from the effects of “youthful errors, early decay, wasting weakness and loss of manhood.”

The professor offered to send free of charge, valuable information full of the particulars for a home cure, should you suffer from any of these ailments. The contents would of course be sealed for your privacy.

Unfortunately, there is no record of whether more men or women ordered the professor’s secret elixir.
