11/15/2009:
A young man from Golden Valley was driving around when he saw a giant eagle attacking a jack rabbit. He stopped to see what would happen, but when the rabbit ran under his car, the eagle began to attack him! It tore off the top of the car and attempted to carry him off, but the lad shot the eagle, then chopped off its head with an ax.
This tale, from the Beach Advance, was circulated on this date in 1925, but it didn't seem too true to the editors, as they offered an alternate ending: after the rabbit ran under the car, the eagle flew away to a nearby hill, where the young man shot it.
Perhaps the lad chose his own adventure.
