North Dakota’s hands-on science center will join 300+ other institutions and hundreds of thousands of people on every inhabited continent to celebrate International Science Center & Science Museum Day (ISCSMD) on Saturday, November 10. Science centers and science museums worldwide take the opportunity of this day to celebrate and promote their missions through widely diverse informal science education and engagement activities. Gateway to Science will offer hands-on activities in their gallery designed for this day only. Gateway to Science is also offering FREE admission to military members and their families on November 10 and November 12 in honor of Veteran’s Day. The International Science Center and Science Museum Day (ISCSMD) is a yearly, global event illustrating the impact and reach of all the world’s science centers and science museums. It demonstrates the role these institutions play with their millions of visitors in raising awareness of—and engagement in—sustainable development and the solutions to worldwide challenges such as climate change, human health, energy, waste, water shortages, gender, oceans, and other global issues. The 2018 ISCSMD theme is “Science, a Human Right.” Gateway to Science is located in the Frances Leach High Prairie Arts & Science Complex, 1810 Schafer Street in Bismarck, ND. In addition to an interactive exhibits gallery, they offer STEM educational outreach programs serving people of all ages, including out-of-school time clubs, camps, and free family events The hands-on gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
