A new workforce recruiting effort is being launched in North Dakota.
It’s dubbed “Find the Good Life in North Dakota” – and it’s being spearheaded by the North Dakota Economic Development Foundation. It’s aimed at finding a more permanent workforce to fill the open jobs across the state.
"We in North Dakota know the quality of life we have here," said Foundation chairman Wally Goulet. "We know the opportunities. And those opportunities are going to be here for decades. This isn't the boom as we've known it in the past. It's not just out west. It's the entire state -- all boats are rising."
The state of North Dakota is kicking in $400,000 toward the effort. That amount is being matched by the Hess Corporation. Hess is one of the biggest players in the Bakken.
"What we want is people who see the superb opportunities here in North Dakota," said Hess North Dakota general manager Steve McNally. "And they'll come here to make North Dakota their home."
The Foundation will be contacting other private firms to contribute to the effort. A Web site will be launched, and the campaign will begin in May.
