Bismarck, ND – Unisys is adding 100 or more jobs to its Bismarck office, making Bismarck its main billing center in the U. S.
About 140 people already work in the company's service center. They handle company expense reports.
Unisys vice president Thomas McGlinn says the Bismarck center will handle billings in the expansion. And he says that means moving billing operations in Pennsylvania and Florida to Bismarck.
"When we're finished with this phase, we will have three billing centers - Bismarck, Amsterdam, and Sydney, Australia."
McGlinn says the search for new workers starts now -- and he hopes it will be done by September. He says North Dakota's low unemployment rate should not be a problem.
North Dakota Senator Byron Dorgan says Unisys is demonstrating that technology can reduce distances -- and make people in Bismarck as valuable as any in the nation -- and in the world.
The new hires will add two and a half million dollars to the Bismarck payroll.
