Bismarck Sixth Graders Move to Corpus Christi Church

Sixth graders at Bismarck’s Northridge Elementary School will be starting out their school year at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

Sixth graders will remain at Corpus Christi until they can move to the middle school, said sixth grade language arts teacher Jenni Picard.

"This is going to be good for the sixth graders. They are going to be moving to the middle school anyway and the way sixth grade works, at Northridge, is we have a departmentalized situation where each one of our teachers teaches a core class; we have one teacher for english, one for math, one for social studies and one for science," Picard said. "We have them pretty much on a middle school concept already."

Picard claims the new school environment will be a better fit for the students. Corpus Christi will be less crowded and have a more grown up situation for the kids, Picard said.

"It'll take a little growing pain and a little flexibility in getting used to being in a new building and a new situation," Picard said.  "Having the kids be a way from their home school will be a little tough but we will make every effort to make sure we are still a part of the main building."

Bismarck Public School's classes begin August 23.
