You can drop “interim” from his title.
The interim president of Lake Region State College at Devils Lake has been hired as the permanent president. Dr. Doug Darling has served as interim president since last May, when Mike Bower stepped down. Darling has been the vice-president of instructional services.
"I've worked most of my career at LRCC, and I know what a fine institution it is," Darling said. "I don't want to work anyplace else. And I think I can help the campus move forward."
Darling says one of his top goals is to get the college ready for the new “Pathways to Student Success” program, the system-wide initiative by the Board and Chancellor Ham Shirvani.
"Who doesn't want students to be successful?" said Darling. "Who doesn't want them placed appropriately in their classes so they can be successful? Who doesn't want them to graduate in a finite amount of time? We want to increase the percentage of students who graduate."
Darling says he’ll still have to negotiate his salary with the Board.
