$584 million.
That’s what Minot Air Force Base says is its economic impact in the Minot region. Those figures were released at a meeting of Minot’s Military Affairs Coommittee.
"This was increased spending in annual payroll, expenditures and retiree payrolls," said Maj. Jorge Jimenez, the commander of the 5th Comptroller Squadron. "The FY 2013 impact is $109.7 million more than it was in 2009, or 18.8% higher."
Jimenez says it's safe to say MAFB will continue to have a positive impact on the Minot community -- through FY 2014 and beyond.
The number of personnel connected to the base – which includes active military, dependants, and civilian workers – is estimated at just under 13-thousand.
