Moorhead Police are wondering if a car spotted on a video surveillance camera could help them solve a murder investigation. Chief Investigator Brad Pennas says officials are hoping to talk to the owner of the vehicle in order to determine whether or not it was involved in the death of NDSU student Thomas Bearson. Bearson was last seen in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 20th, leaving a party in north Fargo. His body was discovered 3 days later in the lot of a south Moorhead business. Pennas says there are still no suspects in custody and no motive determined in the death – which has been linked to “homicidal violence.” He says investigators are hoping the public will be able to help identify a vehicle spotted on a video surveillance camera. It is from a business near the crime scene…
“…On Saturday, September 20th, 2014 at approximately 7:35pm, a vehicle enters a parking lot of an unoccupied business located at 2225, Highway 52 South. The vehicle appears to be a dark colored, 4-door passenger car. We’re attempting to identify this vehicle and would appreciate the public’s help in doing so. If anyone recalls seeing this vehicle, or suspects it may even be THEIR VEHICLE, we are asking they please contact the Moorhead Police Department.”
Pennas says the vehicle stayed in the parking lot for one-to-two minutes before leaving. He says the car is the latest in series of tips and leads local and state investigators have been examining. Pennas says officials with the FBI have also agreed to assist with criminal profiling as part of the investigation.
