"Kitchens of the Great Midwest" ~ Bakken Oil: What Have We Learned?

J. Ryan Stradal has authored Kitchens of the Great Midwest. It takes readers into the heart of Minnesota (and into their kitchens) with everything from the holiday tradition of cooking Lutefisk to Lutheran Church bake sales. Some of the recipes in the novel are inspired by a cook book compiled by the women of First Lutheran Church in his grandmother's hometown of Hunter, North Dakota. It’s a story about how the food we eat and the people we meet shape the world around us. ~~~ ND Compass.org tracks and analyzes trends in North Dakota. This month, the organization features an article by NDSU researcher Carol Cwiak titled “Bakken Oil: What Have We Learned and What Will We Do Differently Next Time?” Carol joins us to discuss her research.
