Tuesday, July 14, 2020 - The Empire Arts Center in Grand Forks will be presenting The Great American Trailer Park Musical. It’s a special challenge during these times of pandemic, a situation faced by organizations across the state as they strive to find a safe way to reopen. Here to talk about their precautions, and the challenges arising from being closed, are Maddie Sharpe, the musical director for the play, and Debra Pflughoeft-Hassett, executive director. ~~~ Tom Isern shares a Plains Folk essay, “Taylor’s Grove.” ~~~ From All Things Considered, NPR's Sarah McCammon talks with Crystal Echo Hawk, an enrolled member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma, about the Washington NFL team's announcement that it will retire its name and mascot. ~~~ Dr. Donald Warne heads the Indians into Medicine Program at the University of North Dakota. He visits with Conversations on Health Care podcast hosts Mark Masseli and Margaret Flintner about the disproportionate toll the pandemic is taking on indigenous populations.
