Think the 2016 election is over? Not quite

You might think the general election is over.

Well, not quite.

Three Republican electors will have to get together to cast their ballots for Donald Trump, as part of the Electoral College.

But before that can happen, there is a process. North Dakota Secretary of State Al Jaeger said the first step is to have the votes canvassed at the county level. That happens November 14th.

"Then, on Nov. 18th, the state Canvassing Board will meet," Jaeger said. "We'll gather the results from all 53 counties, and officially certify who the winner is."

Jaeger said the three electors will then be officially notified. He said there’s some other prep work that needs to be done before the electors cast their ballots.

"That takes place Dec. 19th, at one o'clock, in the office of the Governor," Jaeger said.

There is an interesting side note to this.

"Gov. Jack Dalrymple's term ends Dec. 14th," said Jaeger. "The Electoral College meets Dec. 19th. So one of the first official duties of the next Governor of North Dakota will have is to preside over the meeting of North Dakota electors."

Fargo businessman Doug Burgum takes office Dec. 15th.
