The 2016 campaign is finally over.
The Electoral College met in Bismarck Monday (12-19). North Dakota has three electoral votes.
The three electors -- former State Senators John Olson of Bismarck and Duane Mutch of Larimore, and former GOP National Committeewoman Bev Clayburgh of Grand Forks -- cast their ballots for Donald Trump.
Two people attending the ceremony held signs, asking the electors to vote their conscience. They said nothing, and left quietly.
Elector John Olson of Bismarck said they all felt bound to follow North Dakota’s vote.
"We had an overwhelming majority of voters in North Dakota that supported Trump," Olson said after the ceremony. "We do have an obligation to reflect the state constituency."
Olson said he received thousands of e-mails, hundreds of letters and a few phone calls, urging him to reject Trump. But he said in the past few days, he’s gotten correspondence, urging him to hold his ground.
