Another sign of a recovering economy.
Airline boardings in North Dakota airports grew by nearly 9.5 percent from last October to this October.
"That's pretty incredible growth," said North Dakota Aeronautics Commission director Kyle Wanner.
Wanner said year-to-date, boardings in 2018 are overall about 4-and-a-half percent higher than they were in 2017.
"There's been a lot of growth in North Dakota," Wanner said. "The oil economy is on the rebound, and other economic areas in the state are doing well."
Wanner said it's definitely recovered from where it was in 2015-2016 and 2017.
"Comparing our numbers to where they were a year ago, it's a good sign -- that's for sure," Wanner said.
Waner also said the airlines are happy with the numbers.
"The load factors are up," Wanner said. "We're looking at 78 percent load, or how full their aircraft are."
Wanner said it's obvious people are utilizing North Dakota airports for travel.
"That's definitely going to lead to increased routes and increased frequency," Wanner said. "That means increased opportunity for citizens and businesses."
