New natural gas processing plant in the works

Another natural gas processing plant is being proposed for western North Dakota.

One OK (one-oak) wants to build a 200 million cubic feet per day facility 13 miles southwest of Watford City. Public Service Commission president Brian Kalk says the application was received in April.

"Given the backdrop of all the challenges out there, with the reduction of the flaring of natural gas, we really wanted to make sure that once staff deemed the application complete, we could have a special meeting," said Kalk. "We can then get the hearing notice in place, and have the hearing June 18th."

One OK says it wants to have the plant in operation by 2015. Its price tag is $280 million – and once complete, the company will have a processing capacity of 800 million cubic feet per day in North Dakota.
