1/15/2006:
The Huff Hill Ski Area opened for business, on this date in 1993, 16 miles south of Bismarck-Mandan on the western slope of the Missouri River. The business was the brainchild of Jim and Jan Beck, who after a ski trip to Bottineau Winter Park in Bottineau, ND, began the planning process with a group of investors. Jim had a construction background, and he also had business experience from opening the Ft. Lincoln Trolley Co., a tourist railway line from Mandan to Ft. Abraham Lincoln State Park.
Today at Huff Hills, skiers and snowboarders access 16 runs, via four lifts, and experience a 450 foot vertical drop on the return trip to the base lodge. Huff Hills Ski Area is family and beginner friendly, and is normally open from Thankgiving to mid-March. Snow making and grooming equipment enhance what Mother Nature provides.
