1/8/2012:
The Grand Forks Herald reported a remarkable case of premonition on this date in 1906. It was the story of Andrew McDonald, who took out an insurance policy for $3,000. The policy represented an enormous amount of money at the time, especially for a young man of only twenty-one years. When the agent questioned his intentions, McDonald answered that “…he did not expect to live long and he would surprise his relatives with a donation.” Later, when a friend asked if he planned to attend an upcoming Woodmen meeting, McDonald replied that “…he might as well go and have things straightened up as he would probably die soon.” Days later, McDonald was kicked by a horse and killed while working at the Draper Dairy. McDonald’s friends believed he’d been visited by the Grim Reaper and had foreseen his death.
