A suspect in a Bismarck murder has been found dead of an apparent suicide.
35 year old Kirk Kwasniewski was the suspect in an early-morning shooting.
Bismarck Police Sergeant Mark Buschena says a woman living in the 600 block of north 22nd Street called police to report a man with a gun, threatening her.
"She had been asleep," said Buschena. "She woke up, and the suspect was in her home. She saw her boyfriend was deceased, also in her home."
Buschena says the suspect fled the scene. He says police set up what he described as a "loose cordon" in a 20-block area. But the suspect was not found.
Later, the suspect's car -- a black 2004 Dodge Neon with the license KRK 625 -- was found in Dunn County.
"His body was located near the entrance to the Little Missouri State Park," said Buschena. "He was found by a Dunn County deputy. He had placed a 9-1-1 hang-up call, and law enforcement was able to track him via his cell phone."
Buschena says it appears Kwasniewski died by suicide. An autopsy will be performed.
Killed earlier was 30 year old Caine Fischer of Bismarck. An autopsy on Fischer’s body is also being done.
Buschena says it is likely a domestic incident – since all involved knew each other.
