A 44-year-old Washburn man has been arrested and charged with four counts of class double-A murder in connection with the multiple homicide at a Mandan business.
Four people were found dead at RJR property management and maintenance in Mandan Monday morning.
At a news conference, Mandan Police Chief Jason Ziegler said Chad Isaak was arrested last night in Washburn.
Isaak said police had been reviewing house of surveillance video. He said from that, a suspect's vehicle was identified. And he said the McLean County Sheriff's Office located the vehicle in Washburn, about 35 miles north of Bismarck.
"McLean County deputies conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, and detained Isaak, while a search warrant was executed on that vehicle," Ziegler said. "Evidence discovered on Isaak and in the vehicle provided probable cause to place Isaak under arrest for the murders."
Ziegler said Isaak lived in a mobile home park in Washburn, managed by RJR. And he said the investigation continues.
"At the present time, the motive for the crime is unknown," Ziegler said.
Ziegler also said the four victims died of stab wounds and/or gunshots. But he said the final cause of death will be released after the medical examiner's office finishes its work.
One of the four people killed – 52 year old Robert Fakler – was an owner of RJR. The other three – 42-year-old Adam Fuehrer, 50-year-old William Cobb and 45-year-old Lois Cobb – were RJR employees.
