Wednesday, August 8 – Independent Lens produced a documentary about the first federally funded National Women's Conference. Sisters of '77 uses archival footage an interviews to bring the conference to life. Christi McGeorge, Ph.D, is a professor in the department of Human Development and Family Science at NDSU. She interviewed several North Dakota women who participated in the conference and will share clips at screening at NDSU. ~~~ Mark Trahant has a commentary on the prospect of a government shutdown and what has to happen to stop that from happening. ~~~ Tom Isern shares a Plains Folk essay titled “A Gathering of Good Friends,” a reference to the Deuce of August event held annually in Mountain North Dakota. ~~~ As Tom mentioned, he ran into our Ashley Thornberg at the event.
