Legalized Sports Betting ~ Mark Trahant ~ Chuck Lura ~ Sue Balcom on Farmers' Markets

Thursday, July 19 – The prospect of legalized sports betting raises a number of interesting points of discussion. It’s a potentially huge business, with a lot of support from the major sports leagues. It may or may not come to North Dakota, but a number of other states are moving forward on making it available, often in cooperation with Native tribes. With mobile technology seeming unlimited, will we even see gambling apps? Here to visit with us are Kathryn Rand and Steven Light. Kathryn is dean of the UND law school, and Steven is the dean of the College of Business and Public Administration. They are also co-directors of the Institute for the Study of Tribal Gaming Law & Policy. ~~~ Mark Trahant reflects on Native Americans serving as judges. Perhaps one day, even on the Supreme Court. ~~~ Sue Balcom of the Root Sellers farm near Mandan is here with some thoughts on Farmers’ Markets. ~~~ Doug and Ashley have our What’s Happening calendar of events.
