History & Nature Lecture: Contemporary History of Fort Buford

The Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center near Williston is offering free educational activities in May to promote learning and fun for adults and children. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All sessions are free and open to the public.

May 10, History & Nature Lecture: Contemporary History of Fort Buford, 2-3 p.m. Fort Buford was decommissioned in 1895, but its story continued. Join Jacqueline Lisenbee as she explores how the site was preserved, remembered, and reimagined from its closure to today in this special presentation on Fort Buford’s evolving legacy. The History & Nature lecture series is appropriate for adult audiences.

May 24, Confluence Learning Lab: Fishing at the Confluence, 2-3 p.m. Discover the history and biology of local fish found at the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence. Try catching a stuffed paddlefish, then design your own fish from clay while learning about different features fish have adapted to survive.
