Rich and Sonya Johnson live in Fergus Falls, Minnesota and say they have volunteered in relief efforts for many disasters – including Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and even the Northwood, ND tornado. But delivering hot meals to victims of Superstorm Sandy was their first time volunteering with the Red Cross. The Johnsons traveled to New Jersey and helped feed hungry, cold people recovering from the massive storm for two weeks earlier this month. Prairie Public’s Danielle Webster spoke with them about their experience.

The Johnsons say despite the hardships facing people in the northeast following Superstorm Sandy, they both believe they also saw hope and determination in faces of the victims. The Johnsons returned from New Jersey last week.
