North Dakota's Tourism director says the state’s investment in tourism is paying off.
Sara Otte Coleman says that’s shown in the latest figures from Longwoods International – a tourism research firm.
"Last year, we invested $1.9 million in travel and tourism marketing," said Otte Coleman. "We netted $236 million in tourism expenditures. That includes $17.8 million in tax revenue, collected from tourists."
Otte Coleman says the 2012 campaign was one of the most efficient Tourism has done.
"The efficiency of the campaign was $1.36 -- that's what it cost us to generate a trip to North Dakota," said Otte Coleman. She says the 2013 campaign will continue to use the “Legendary” brand. She says that has been successful in improving North Dakota’s image.
