Those who are attending the 21st annual United Tribes Technical College Tribal Leaders Summit in Bismarck are considering offering a resolution regarding the disappearance and death of a Fargo woman.
It isn’t on the formal agenda. But United Tribes President Leander “Russ” McDonald said he’s anticipating formal discussions and a resolution from the Summit’s board concerning the death of Savanna Lafontaine-Greywind. Her body was found in the Red River after being reported missing. She was eight months pregnant. And her child was found alive in an apartment in the building Greywind lived in.
"The resolution would help support perhaps national legislation that would help keep women victims safe," McDonald said in an interview. "Especially American Indian women."
Two Fargo people – Brooke Crews and William Hoehn – have been charged in Greywind’s murder.
The Tribal Leaders Summit runs through Friday.
