Jeremy Fields on Generational Trauma ~ Charley Joyce on Fostering Children

Chynna Lockett, SDPB

Friday, June 5, 2020 - Trauma from generations past can have profound effects on children today -- children of any color. What can be done to help? Jeremy Fields is the founder of Thrive Unltd, a collective of individuals representing various tribal nations and diverse backgrounds working to empower indigenous communities to heal from the inside out. Jeremy visits with Lori Walsh, host of South Dakota Public Radio’s “In The Moment.” ~~~ The pandemic is affecting the child welfare system, with even more trouble than usual finding homes for foster children. With that as a backdrop, we visit with Charley Joyce, a Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota therapist, who has authored a book titled “Behavior with a Purpose.” It’s intended to give foster families the tools to maintain a successful, caring and lasting relationship with their foster children.
