Skogen: No one has been fired or demoted at NDUS office

Rumors have been swirling that people in the University System office have been fired or demoted – in the wake of Ham Shirvani’s ouster,

But temporary Chancellor Larry Skogen says those rumors are not true.

"I have fired no one," said Skogen. "I have no intention of firing anyone that is currently working at the system office."

Skogen says he has met with the staff – and outlined some broad concepts about his leadership style.

"We've got smart people up there that want to do good jobs," said Skogen. "We just have to make sure the right structure's in place. My goal in moving forward is to bring my own leadership style, and I think we'll change the culture and the climate. I think people are welcoming that."

Skogen also wants to make sure there is transparency in the system office – and that means following open meetings and open records laws. The Board of Higher Education has been admonished by Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem for not following those laws.
