Surge bill gets final Legislative approval

The $1.1 billion dollar “surge” bill has now passed the Legislature.

The bill is designed to get money for infrastructure in the hands of state and local government agencies as soon as possible – so they can get some work done in the 2015 construction season.

"I think we have a lot riding on this bill," said Sen. Karen Krebsbach (R-Minot), who urged her senate colleagues to concur with House amendments. They did -- on a voice vote. The bill then passed unanimously.

"I want to make sure that we acknowledge, with gratitude, this early boost to our economy, and see that the money is coming out before the spring thaw," said Sen. John Warner (D-Ryder). He says this will be a boon – not only to western North Dakota, but to the entire state.

It passed unanimously. Gov. Dalrymple plans to sign the bill in a ceremony tomorrow (Tuesday).
