There will be a race for the GOP nomination for state auditor.
Former Bismarck Tribune publisher Brian Kroshus (craw-shush) has announced he wants the job. Kroshus is a Fargo native and a graduate of NDSU. At a Bismarck news conference, Kroshus said the state auditor’s job has a lot of facets.
"It requires the ability to be a strong leader who listens to those around him," said Kroshus. "It requires strong financial and analytical skills, leaned from real-time experience. It means having a deep desire to serve the people of our state. It requires a willingness to work cooperatively with state agencies, elected officials and legislators in the best interest of the taxpayers of our state. My proven track record clearly demonstrates that I have each of these qualities."
Josh Gallion – who currently works for the Public Service Commission – has already announced his plan to seek the nomination. Kroshus was asked what makes him different from Gallion.
"My private sector experience," said Kroshus. "I've been through the ups and downs, the different business cycles. And you learn. The reality is -- you learn how to do things more efficiently. That comes with time on the job, and operating under a variety of economic conditions."
The current auditor – Bob Peterson – is not seeking re-election.
